It is with a heavy heart that we at Top Gun say goodbye to “The Old Top Gun”, Elden R. Carl. Elden passed away in the early hours of September 24th, 2021 due to post-surgery complications arising from a motorcycle accident earlier this year.
Elden logged well over a million miles on motorcycles and hundreds of thousands of those on multisurface motorcycles – as he coined them. He will always be remembered by the KLR-650 and DR-650 communities for his many contributions to the improvements of both motorcycles. His ability to look at a machine and figure out a better way for it to work was uncanny.
A true man-of-many-talents, Elden was also a legendary pistol shooter, champion boxer, ballroom dancer, and even recorded a few country-western songs.
His love of his wonderful wife and his loyalty to his friends on both sides of the border are seldom found in this world and will be sorely missed.
